Composition
The main parts of the electric arc furnace are the roof, furnace (the lower part of the furnace, from which molten metal is collected), electrode and side wall. The roof consists of three holes through which electrodes are inserted. The roof consists of alumina and magnesite chromite bricks. The furnace includes metal and slag. The tilting mechanism is used to pour molten metal into the cradle by moving the furnace. For electrode removal and furnace charging (filling waste metal), roof retraction mechanism is adopted. In consideration of the health condition of the operator, provisions for flue gas extraction are also provided around the furnace. In the AC electric furnace, the number of electrodes is three. These are round. Graphite is used as an electrode because of its high conductivity. Carbon electrodes are also used. The electrode positioning system helps to automatically raise and lower the electrode. When the current density is high, the electrode will be highly oxidized.
