Induction heating furnace annealing uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to directly heat the workpiece. Therefore, in many cases, we also refer to high-frequency quenching equipment, high-frequency welding equipment, medium-frequency quenching furnace, medium-frequency smelting furnace, etc. as induction heating furnaces.
Induction quenching is to use the principle of electromagnetic induction heating to heat the metal workpiece to a proper temperature and maintain it for a period of time, and then immerse it in the quenching medium for rapid cooling, thus greatly improving the strength, hardness, and wear resistance, fatigue strength and toughness of steel, Metal heat treatment process to meet different use requirements of various mechanical parts and tools.
Generally speaking, induction heating furnace annealing is suitable for the heat treatment of workpieces with simple blank shapes and large production volumes, as well as the use of factories and enterprises in the military industry, automobile, tractor, railway locomotive, and other industries such as forging, hot stamping and metal melting in the early stage of workpieces.
Advantages of Induction Heating Furnace Annealing
1. The heating speed is fast, which can double the production efficiency of induction quenching equipment, and can form a continuous production line with other process equipment.
2. The heating time is short and the efficiency is high. The efficiency of induction quenching equipment can reach 80%~95%, the efficiency of induction smelting furnace can reach 65%~75%, while the heating efficiency of the flame furnace (oil-fired industrial furnace, weather-fired industrial furnace, coal-fired industrial furnace) is only about 20%, and the heating efficiency of resistivity is only about 40%.
3. The induction quenching equipment is used. Due to the fast heating speed and short heating time, the burn loss rate of oxide skin produced by the workpiece is 0.5%~1%, while the burn loss rate of oxide skin produced by the flame furnace is 3%. The induction quenching equipment saves at least 2% of the material than the flame furnace.
4. If induction quenching equipment is used in the heat treatment workshop, due to less heat loss, the temperature of the workshop is greatly reduced, the working conditions are improved, and induction quenching does not produce smoke and dust, thus purifying the workshop environment.
Disadvantages of Induction Heating Furnace Annealing
The main heating element of induction quenching equipment is the inductor, and the size of the workpiece heated in the inductor is limited, which can not be as flexible and universal as flame furnace and resistance furnace, which is why we say that induction quenching equipment is suitable for heat treatment of workpieces with the simple shape and large batch.
Reasons for the Higher Hardness of Induction Quenching Than Ordinary Quenching:
1. Induction quenching is a process of rapid heating and cooling, with very fine grains and microstructures;
2. According to its heating and crystallization characteristics, the selected heating temperature is often higher than the normal heating temperature;
3. The heat of induction quenching is concentrated on the surface, relatively small, fast heating and cooling, and good quenching effect.
In order to ensure the quenching quality, it is necessary to improve the mechanical properties of the part center. Before surface quenching, normalizing or quenching and tempering can also be carried out:
1. The parts with low requirements for mechanical properties of the core can be normalized and preheated;
2. For parts with high mechanical performance requirements at the core, quenching, tempering, and preheating treatment can be carried out.
