The induction furnace meaning is a furnace with a power supply frequency in the range of 150 to 10000 Hz, and its main frequency is in the range of 150 to 2500 Hz. The power supply frequency of domestic small-frequency induction furnaces is 150, 1000, and 2500 Hz.
Based on the induction furnace meaning, medium frequency induction furnace is a special smelting equipment suitable for smelting high-quality steel and alloy. Compared with a power frequency induction furnace, it has the following advantages:
1) Fast Melting Speed and High Production Efficiency
The medium-frequency induction furnace has a high power density, and the power configuration per ton of molten steel is about 20-30% greater than that of the industrial frequency induction furnace. Therefore, under the same conditions, the medium-frequency induction furnace has a fast melting speed and high production efficiency.
2) Strong Adaptability and Flexible Use
The medium frequency induction furnace can completely discharge the molten steel from each furnace, making it convenient to change the steel grade; However, each furnace of the power frequency induction furnace is not allowed to discharge the molten steel completely, and a portion of the molten steel must be reserved for starting in the next furnace. Therefore, it is not convenient to change the steel grade and is only suitable for smelting a single variety of steel.
3) The Electromagnetic Stirring Effect Is Good
Because the electromagnetic force borne by the molten steel is inversely proportional to the square root of the power supply frequency, the stirring force of the intermediate frequency power supply is smaller than that of the power frequency power supply. For removing impurities, uniform chemical composition, and uniform temperature in steel, the stirring effect of medium frequency power supply is relatively good. The excessive stirring force of the power frequency power supply increases the scouring force of the molten steel on the furnace lining, which not only reduces the refining effect but also reduces the life of the crucible.
4) Easy to Start and Operate
Due to the skin effect of the intermediate frequency current being much larger than the power frequency current, there is no special requirement for the furnace charge during the startup of the intermediate frequency induction furnace. After charging, the furnace can be quickly heated and warmed up; In a power frequency induction furnace, a specially made charging block (a cast steel or iron block with a size similar to that of the crucible and about half the height of the crucible) is required to start heating, and the heating speed is very slow. Therefore, medium-frequency induction furnaces are mostly used under conditions of periodic operation. Another advantage of easy starting is that it can save power during periodic operations.
Due to the above advantages of induction furnace meaning, in recent years, medium-frequency induction furnaces have been widely used not only in the production of steel and alloys, but also in the production of cast iron, especially in the foundry workshops with periodic operations.
